What is Rise & Shine about?
Rise & Shine is a campaign by the European Union in Mauritius. The campaign has been established to raise awareness and reaffirm the EU’s conmmitments to fight for gender equality, the promotion of human rights and the fight against all forms of discrimination, whether founded on gender, social background, beliefs, age or sexual orientation.
The Rise & Shine campaign continues to support the policy dialogue on gender between the EU and Mauritius. Launched at high level with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, this dialogue has helped the government in improving its measures to foster Gender Equality and against Gender Based Violence.
Vincent Degert,
Ambassador of the European Union in Mauritius.
” This campaign gives us the opportunity, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, to pay attention to the needs of those who are most vulnerable in crisis situations, children, the elderly, people with disabilities. It also allows us to recognize the role of women who are often on the front line in the face of the pandemic and who deserve to fully play their role also in the post-covid recovery.”
Our Goodwill Ambassadors
We are fortunate, once again this year, to be able to count on the support of our 11 Goodwill Ambassadors who are ardent human rights defenders, ready to mobilize to get things done.
